Glass Torch Finder

Answer four questions: your glass, work size, oxygen supply and budget. The list updates as you go. Its order is the editor's assessment, not a reader rating.

What glass do you melt?
How big is the work?
What oxygen supply do you have?
What can you spend?

    How this list works

The four questions filter the catalog on facts we hold for each model: the glass types it is listed for, the catalog use cases that name a work size, the oxygen estimate, and the reference price. The budget steps are the same thresholds the catalog uses for its price bands, and they are tested against real dollars, never against band order. A "not sure" answer filters nothing. The page opens on a common set of answers, and "Start over" puts those back.

The work-size answer is deliberately loose. Small, medium and large sit one step apart, and a model only drops off the list when everything the catalog says about its size is two steps from your answer. So answering "medium" removes nothing, answering "small" removes only the models described purely for large work, and answering "large" removes only the models described purely for small work. Where the catalog records no work size at all we keep the model and count it under the list, rather than dropping a torch over a fact we never wrote down. The advanced filters have no work-size control, so opening these answers there can show more models than you see here.

The order within the results reflects the editor's assessment of each maker and each model, weighed with your budget so the strongest torch you can afford comes first. It is one person's judgement, Joe Blanchard's, recorded with a date, and it is not a reader rating. Community reviews are planned, and they are what a reader rating will rest on. Oxygen figures are estimates rather than specifications; confirm the current configuration with the maker before buying.
