Figures come from Nortel's own pages and manuals where we have them; the oxygen figure is a rough estimate, not a specification. Confirm the current spec with Nortel before you buy.

How we source these figures

Treat the oxygen figure as a rough sizing estimate. Depending on the model it may be manufacturer full-flame consumption, a converted flow figure, or a documented estimate, and delivered pressure and purity matter as much as flow. What actually drives a torch choice is the glass, the work, and the flame, so size your oxygen supply after you pick the torch.

Prices may be manufacturer list prices or observed dealer references. Where a cell carries an evidence line it says where the figure came from, the date we checked it, and links the source where we hold one; a cell without one rests on the sources at the foot of the page. On a phone those lines show while this note is open. Confirm the exact configuration with Nortel before buying.

Overview

The Nortel Arrow is one of the newer torches in Nortel’s store, listed under its mounted torches. Nortel describes it as a two-stage design that combines surface-mix and premix characteristics, built around a single-port flame. Nortel’s store listed it at CAD $1,433 on 2026-10-06.

What Nortel says it does

Nortel describes two flames from one head: a narrow flame, and a second flame it compares in size with the Minor. The listing also claims heat without excessively high gas pressures, which is Nortel’s framing rather than a pressure figure; it gives no settings. You choose barb or B fittings when you order, the same choice Nortel offers on its other bench burners.

Our catalog files the Arrow as hybrid, because Nortel itself says it mixes both ways. The site’s surface mix vs premix guide explains what each approach does to noise, flame shape and color work.

Where it sits in the Nortel line

The Arrow is also the center fire of the Hydra, which wraps it in outer rings of 22 and 32 ports for larger boro. On Nortel’s own CAD price list it sits above the Red Max and below the Rocket, Hydra, Medusa and Goliath. The full ladder is in our Nortel torch lineup.

What to confirm with Nortel before you order

Nortel’s Arrow listing is short, so ask before you buy:

  • Glass. The listing names no glass types.
  • Fuel and pressures. The listing names no fuel. Nortel’s torch index says its torches run natural gas or propane with oxygen.
  • Oxygen. Nortel gives no concentrator count or flow for the Arrow. Plan your supply with how many LPM does my torch need once you have Nortel’s answer.
  • Price in your currency and what ships in the box.

Before you buy

Budget for the whole system, not just the torch: oxygen, the correct regulators, flashback protection matched to your torch and gas supply, eyewear rated for your glass, and ventilation. Nortel takes orders and repair questions at service@nortelmfg.com.

Editor’s note: everything here comes from Nortel’s own store listing and torch index as read on 2026-10-06. Nortel publishes no port count, glass rating, fuel, pressure or oxygen figure for the Arrow, and lists its price in Canadian dollars, so confirm those details with Nortel before purchasing.

Fit and tradeoffs

Best for: Experienced flameworkers who want a narrow, focused flame on a mounted torch and are comfortable confirming the details with Nortel before ordering.

Not for: Buyers who want a fully documented torch today: Nortel publishes no port count, glass rating, fuel line or oxygen figure for the Arrow yet.

Pros

  • + Two-stage design that Nortel says combines surface-mix and premix characteristics
  • + Single-port flame: a narrow flame plus one Nortel compares with a Minor's
  • + Nortel claims real heat without very high gas pressures
  • + Barb or B fittings, chosen when you order

Cons

  • − Nortel names no glass types, fuels, pressures or oxygen flow on the Arrow listing
  • − Price is listed in Canadian dollars; no US figure recorded yet
  • − New to Nortel's store, so there is little owner experience to draw on

FAQ

Is the Nortel Arrow surface mix or premix?
Nortel describes it as a two-stage design that combines surface-mix and premix characteristics. Our catalog files it as hybrid for that reason. Nortel does not spell out which stage mixes which way, so ask Nortel if it matters to your work.
How much does the Arrow cost?
Nortel's store listed it at CAD $1,433 on 2026-10-06. We have not recorded a US-dollar figure from Nortel yet, and we do not convert currencies ourselves.
How is the Arrow related to the Hydra?
The Hydra uses an Arrow as its center fire, inside outer rings of 22 and 32 ports. If you want the Arrow's flame plus a large outer fire for bigger work, the Hydra is the combined torch.
What fuel does the Arrow run?
The Arrow listing names no fuel. Nortel's torch index says its torches run on natural gas or propane with oxygen, and that is what our catalog records.
